Founded in 1996, Athena Research Consultants (ARC) is a woman-owned company specializing in the arts and humanities. In 2023, we relaunched as an LLC and added to our list of services, which include cultural resource management, historical research and advising, and marketing. ARC assists public, private, and nonprofit clients with Section 106 applications, National Register nominations, property surveys, historic research and writing, preservation outreach, exhibits and historical markers, marketing, and more (click on the Services menu tab for a complete list). Clients include architects and engineers, businesses, cultural and historical organizations, educators, government agencies, property owners, and many others.
Our team is experienced in both traditional research practices and innovative technology. We understand the meaning of service and provide clients with comprehensive and cost-effective solutions to their needs. Integrity and respect are the cornerstones of what we do. We love history and are passionate preservation professionals! By building strong relationships with our clients and partners, we foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and engagement.
Our consultants have a range of capabilities and are carefully matched with the requirements of each project. We organize the teams and manage the projects – from the smallest to the largest – to ensure our clients’ goals are met and projects are completed on time.
We look forward to helping you with your next project!
In Greek lore, Athena was the protector of the city, goddess of war (and peace) and known for her wisdom, civility, and skill. She was also the goddess of crafts, a patron of art along with a variety of local traditions tied to arts and crafts. Our logo was designed in 1996 and is a testament to our vision and work ethic.
John Dziurman AIA, NCARB, was an architect, modern designer, and historic preservationist throughout his 60-year career. His award-winning work in historic preservation and community advocacy was inspiring and helped educate the public about the importance of architectural history and local preservation. He was also my dad and colleague.
In addition to being a champion of historic preservation, my dad's career included achievements in modern design, sustainable architecture, and more. A few years ago, he was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). He passed away in February 2023.
Athena Research Consultants is committed to giving back and pledge to donate up to 5% of our project profits to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD)to not only end the stigma around dementia, but to #endftd.
